What does the map mean?
Green dots mean ‘Not Detected,’ and you can see there were no detections in the community.
Blue dots mean low level detections, and those were limited to the work area. Those levels are what toxicologists call ‘normal background concentrations,’ which means they’re levels you’d typically find in the air. There are no health risks associated with these levels.
Yellow dots indicate moderate level detections, and those were limited to the immediate work area as site cleanup continues. These levels are not uncommon during excavation and cleanup processes. It is important to note that these detections do not extend beyond work area boundaries and pose no health risk to the community. Individuals on site are taking the appropriate precautions to ensure their safety during work.
Air monitoring will continue, but the data continues to show the air in East Palestine is safe to breathe and there are no health risks to people in the area.
