Norfolk Southern connects East Palestine businesses to economic resources

Last Updated on September 14, 2023 at 4:10pm

Norfolk Southern has hosted two open houses for East Palestine business owners. The special events on August 24 and 29 took place at the East Palestine Memorial Public Library and served dozens of businesses based in East Palestine and Western Pennsylvania.

The open houses were an extension of the company’s Family Assistance Center in East Palestine, which has worked closely with businesses and residents. Representatives from Norfolk Southern assisted business owners by helping them apply for reimbursements for any losses they’ve incurred since February.

To further assist the local economy, Norfolk Southern has committed a grant of $500,000 to support economic development in East Palestine. Funds from this grant will allow the Village to hire a professional economic development consultant and create a plan to support long-term prosperity.

So far, Norfolk Southern has committed approximately $69 million to East Palestine and the surrounding communities. Learn more at: NSMakingitRight.com.
