The Morning Journal published a story about the new plans for the East Palestine City Park pool.
The plans include an olympic-size pool area (50 meters in length and 25 meters in width) as well as a zero-entry recreation area with volleyball nets, an in-water seating area complete with jets, a double slide, a toddler pool and a splash pad. All told, the total swimming area will be slightly larger than the current area. The olympic-sized area with marked lanes will offer revenue-generating possibilities for the village.
“The olympic-size pool is great because it opens up a chance for us to make money by renting out for events,” East Palestine Park Superintendent Steve Baird said. “It definitely gives us the opportunity to do things like swim teams.”
Norfolk Southern and the design firm Michael Baker International unveiled plans to completely revamp the park last June. The project is expected to cost $25 million.
