Norfolk Southern connects real estate agents and residents to home value protection resources

Last Updated on December 15, 2023 at 1:52pm

This week, Norfolk Southern invited area real estate agents and their clients to a workshop to discuss the interim home Value Assurance Program (VAP). The special event, hosted at the local Eagles Club, connected real estate agents and their clients with the program administrator to learn about the benefits of the program and answer any questions.

Norfolk Southern developed the VAP to address East Palestine homeowners’ concerns and protect them from any loss of value in the sale of their home related to the February derailment. Through this program, homeowners who sell an eligible property and do not receive market value for the property will be compensated for the difference between market value and sale price.

“Norfolk Southern understands residents of the Village may have concerns about maintaining their home’s value, and the Value Assurance Program is our way of addressing those concerns,” said Will Harden, Senior Director Legal Claims at Norfolk Southern. “We look forward to continuing our work to make things right for the long term.”

So far, Norfolk Southern has committed approximately $103 million to East Palestine and the surrounding communities. Learn more at: NSMakingitRight.com.
