East Palestine and Western Pa. businesses are invited to the East Palestine Memorial Library, where Norfolk Southern will offer guidance on available support

EAST PALESTINE, OH, August 21, 2023 — Norfolk Southern Corporation (NYSE: NSC) is hosting an open house for local business owners impacted by the February train derailment. The special event will take place on Thursday, August 24 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Tuesday, August 29 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the East Palestine Memorial Public Library.

For months, Norfolk Southern has offered assistance to businesses through the Family Assistance Center (FAC). These two sessions present a chance to spotlight the services available and nurture community connections. Representatives from Norfolk Southern will be onsite to connect businesses with resources to aid in their recovery, including reimbursement for losses incurred as a result of the derailment.[i]

“We hope this event provides a space where we can listen, connect and extend our support to local businesses, understanding the challenges they faced following the February derailment,” said Will Harden, Senior Director of Legal Claims at Norfolk Southern. “This touchpoint represents another important step to helping the community recover and thrive.”

The FAC is located at 191 E. Rebecca Street and is available to business owners and residents Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday noon to 8 p.m. The FAC is closed Saturday and Sunday. Businesses can also call the FAC at (800)230-7049 or email at [email protected] for information or assistance.
