NTSB completes East Palestine field hearing

Last Updated on June 28, 2023 at 4:18pm

The NTSB field hearing this week has been an important part of the process to understand the facts about the East Palestine derailment and strengthen safety throughout the railroad industry.  Norfolk Southern will continue to support the NTSB investigation and will be in East Palestine for as long as it takes to make things right.  We look forward to learning from the final report and identifying additional ways to enhance safety.

We are not waiting for the NTSB’s final report to act.  We are already addressing many of the issues that have been discussed during the NTSB hearings. We have brought in world-class safety experts from outside the rail industry to conduct an independent review, and we are collaborating with labor leaders and our craft railroaders to enhance safety.

The entire Norfolk Southern team is committed to being the gold standard for safety in the railroad industry.
