Deliberate false information in East Palestine, OH – orange flyers posted to homes are not the actions of Norfolk Southern

Last Updated on February 27, 2023 at 10:05am

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio – Teams on the ground in East Palestine are reporting individual(s) posting fake notices on homes. These brightly colored orange papers with text that reads: “HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS INSIDE Thank you Norfolk Southern #epstrong” are not the actions of Norfolk Southern. If you see these notices, you can remove them. These are unnecessary attempts to scare the residents of the town, and cause confusion in the community. Norfolk Southern has conducted general and in-home air monitoring by contractors in conjunction with the Ohio EPA and the U.S. EPA – and has not shown any detections of substances related to the incident and does not indicate a health risk. Residents who want air and water testing should contact the Residential Re-Entry Request Hotline at (330) 849-3919. If residents have further questions or concerns, they may call the CTEH Taggart Road Hotline at (234) 542-6474 to speak with a toxicologist.
